Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner

I’m back.

After a 2 year hiatus, I’ve decided to continue doing beauty reviews. I love it too much.  Along with the return to beauty blogging, I’ve re-branded the site. What used to be called Breakthrough Beauty is now New Day Beauty. I hope you’ll enjoy this new chapter in my product journaling.

So let’s get right into it. This month, the Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner was in my Birchbox and I was very excited to give it a whirl. Here’s the review I made on Birchbox’s site:

“My God, this is perfection,” were my first thoughts after testing my sample. Applied so easily, so smoothly, so vibrant. Like child’s play. Literally. This is exactly like drawing a smooth, vivid black marker down a sheet of crisp white paper. I felt like Michelangelo. And I’m sure he, with a tear trickling down his cheek, was clapping, smiling down at me with approval.

The cons: You want to have a steady hand with this, cleaning up mistakes could be tricky. You need to be quick, it sets up super fast. Secondly, later in the day, I noticed that my voluptuous hooded lids had attacked the very nearly perfect line I had drawn and it was smeared into my upper lid. Nice. This is what happens with MOST liners and deeply hooded lids, but I had high hopes for this product. Fail. However, the second day, I used an eye shadow brush to pat a layer of dark shadow overtop my exquisite black line. Bingo. No smudging or creeping the entire day. Third, this product creates precise lines; you’re not going to be able to smudge it or smoke it up, so keep that in mind. It’s not a clay or earthy product; it’s a liquid, water-ink type product.

Non-hoody peoples, you may certainly fall in love with this. Hoody-peoples, you certainly may as well, provided you learn the little patting-shadow trick, or whatever works for you. 4.5 stars with cat eyes galore.
